OSWEGO,
NY (March 6)—Since kicking off the Winter Windfall raffle just a few short
weeks ago, Oswego Harbor Festivals, Inc. has had a heavy snowfall of
applications, and tickets are selling quickly.
With recent snowfalls keeping everyone outside in constant snow removal
mode eager participants are hoping to win some money to help lift the winter
blues and maybe even visit a Caribbean Isle.
The
raffle comprised of seven categories offers the top Avalanche winner a prize of
up to $20,000. A second prizewinner at
the Blizzard level could win up to $5,000, and 5 other lucky winners have a
chance at $1,000 at the Snowfall level.
All prizes are based on the sale of all 2,000 tickets, less than that
will result in 60% of ticket sales being awarded to winners. Ticket holders are eligible for all prize
levels.
The
drawing will take place on April 19, 2008 at 5:00pm at Light House Lanes. In keeping with Harborfest’s cultural
component of the Caribbean this year, the drawing celebration will have an
island vibe of color, fun, and sun, all much-needed components after a long
Lake Ontario winter. Each ticket holder
is entitled to bring a guest, both whom must be at least 18. Warm up begins at 4:00pm and will feature
light refreshments, entertainment, and door prizes. Those wearing a Caribbean style shirt will be entered into a
special drawing.
All
applicants must also be at least 18 to purchase a ticket; winners need not be
present to win and assume personal tax reporting responsibilities on their
winnings.
To bring even more
color to the festivities of the drawing celebration, the annual Festival 50/50
drawing will also be launched. Last
year’s lucky winner, an Oswegonian, won a cool $14,508 with the purchase of
their ten tickets. Enough to take them
to any island the Caribbean has to offer.
Only
a festival as happening as Harborfest can present a day of avalanches and palm
trees all in the same location and still be the coolest act in town. To participate in the fun and game of
chance, ticket applications can be obtained by contacting the Harborfest
offices at 343-3733, visiting any Jackson Hewitt Tax Service in Oswego County
or Light House Lanes, or by downloading an application at www.oswegoharborfest.com.
