OSWEGO, New York (April 6, 2008) - Andrew’s Wine Cellar will join more than 160 restaurants and 200 wine
stores across New York State to celebrate New York Wine Month throughout the
month of April.
According to owner Andrew
Bowman, Andrew’s Wine Cellar, located at the Canal Commons in Oswego, has
partnered with artist and Cascata Winery Owner K. Coralee Burch to display
various pieces of her artwork to commemorate New York Wine Month.
“We’re
very pleased to have Coralee’s art on display for New York Wine Month,” said
Bowman. “Her award-winning artwork has been showcased on her Cascata Wine
labels for years, and we’re excited to have this opportunity to feature her
watercolors, pastels, and wine at our store location.”
A painter and sculptor,
Burch studied wood sculpture in Florence, Italy at the Instituto Statale d’Arte
di Porta Romana, l’Accademia delle Belle Arti, and Villa Schifanoia. She
studied under sculptor Bruno Innocenti and painters, Alfio Rapisardi and
Valentino Valentini.
Her sculpture is a mix between
cubism and impressionism. She also works in artist markers watercolor, pen and
ink, and pastels in an impressionistic and somewhat textile style. Subject
matter for paintings includes tropical and northern landscape and wildlife.
Her work is owned by
collectors and institutions in countries including: USA, Italy, Germany,
Russia, Japan, India, Switzerland, Canada, Romania and England.
Her work is also on display at
her Cascata Winery Gallery in Watkins Glen, New York.
According to the New York Wine
Month website, the April promotion extends throughout the state except in New
York City, where a separate promotion is being planned. The other markets
include Long Island, the Hudson Valley and greater Albany area, Syracuse,
Rochester, Buffalo, North Country and the southern tier (Ithaca, Corning,
Elmira).
"April is the perfect
month for celebrating New York wines," said Jim Trezise, President of the New York Wine & Grape Foundation,
which is orchestrating the month-long promotion.
According to Trezise, it's the
onset of the wine country tourist season, and is the perfect time to taste the newly released wines from the 2007
vintage, which was the best in over 15 years.
New York produces a broad
range of wines to suit every taste and budget: dry, semi-dry and sweet; red,
white and rosé. Try a glass of a new wine at one of the restaurants, and then
purchase it at a nearby wine shop. And visit the winery this summer and fall to
taste all of their products.
