Oswego, NY –
The United Way of Greater Oswego County received some much-needed support for
its annual campaign recently when the Board of Directors for the Port of Oswego
Authority presented Executive Director of the United Way, Melanie Trexler with a
check in the amount of $5,000 for the United Way’s Community Care
Fund.
Each year the United
Way’s annual campaign serves as the major fundraiser for the more than 35 human
services programs that the United Way helps fund. Administered through the United Way’s member
agencies, these programs provide a wide range of comfort and support to
thousands of families and individuals throughout Oswego County. From seniors to children, United Way funded
programs ensure that those in the most need receive the help they need.
Chairman of the
Board of Directors for the Port of Oswego Authority, Chris Dain, praised the
United Way for their efforts in Oswego County.
“We recognize the tremendous work that the United Way and its member
agencies do. As a concerned community
member, the Port of Oswego Authority is proud to be able to do our part and lend
a helping hand to the United Way. Everyone benefits from a stronger, healthier
community. By supporting the United Way
of Greater Oswego County we helping them and their member agencies improve the
quality of life here in Oswego County,” said Dain.
“We are thrilled to
receive this donation,” said Trexler.
“The generosity demonstrated by the Board of Directors of the Port of
Oswego Authority is yet another example of the important impact that the Port
has on our community. Their care and
concern for our community is truly inspiring.”
