OSWEGO, New York (May 5, 2008) – Plans are underway for the inaugural Farnham Family Fun Night to be
held on August 8, 2008 from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Oswego Speedway.
The community event will benefit
Farnham Family Services’ $50,000 Campaign Appeal for 2008, and their Student
Assistance Programs. Oswego Speedway, Radio Disney, and Dougherty’s Rides and
Inflatables of Syracuse have partnered with Farnham Family Services for the
event. Additional potential partnerships are also being considered and/or
negotiated.
“We’re very excited to have the
opportunity to partner with the Oswego Speedway and their wonderful venue for
our inaugural Farnham Family Fun Night,” said Unger. “We welcome children to
come and enjoy the music, games and prizes from Radio Disney, inflatable rides
from Dougherty’s, and tasty food from the Oswego Speedway.”
The fundraiser will be held in the
pit area of the Oswego Speedway, and include 8-10 inflatable rides, on-air
radio personalities from Radio Disney, face painting, games for all ages,
music, and much more.
Admission is FREE to the general public. A
concession stand will be available for food and beverage purchases. No alcohol
will be permitted at the event.
According to Unger, the event is
geared towards children 14 and under and everyone must be accompanied by an
adult. There will also be special games and rides for younger aged children.
“Farnham
Family Fun Night is going to be like the old-style carnivals or field days
everyone remembers – but really specific for families and their young
children,” Unger noted.
According to Steve Pryor, Marketing Director at
the Oswego Speedway, plans are also in the works to have a few of the track’s
supermodified race cars and drivers on hand for autographs and photo opportunities.
“We are excited to be a part of this wonderful
event,” said Pryor. “Farnham Family Services is an important partner to this
community, and we wanted to integrate our racing community into the event as
well.”
According to Unger, Farnham Family Services is calling on
individuals, businesses, and corporate partners, to help their non-profit
organization with the event by considering a bequest in the way of a
sponsorship or monetary donation for the event.
“Farnham Family Services has provided so much to
the families of Oswego and surrounding counties throughout our 35 year plus
history,” Unger said. “And we hope to continue that mission for many more years
to come with the help of this community.”
Farnham Family
Services, a non-profit drug and alcohol clinic, coordinates the event. Established
in 1971, Farnham is a United Way agency that offers both prevention services to
students in its school-based Student Assistance Program, and treatment services
in its clinic program to all residents of Oswego and surrounding counties. All
services are licensed by the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance
Abuse Services.
