Oswego is home to over a dozen parks within the city limits and several other community parks and vistas in neighboring areas.
Some of the more popular city greenspaces include the Riverwalks East and West. Stretching along each side of the Oswego River, the River Walk parks are connected via the Harbor Rail Trail, a pedestrian bridge that spans the river. Each side of the river walk provides river access and an excellent place to fish as well as just walk or run while enjoying the scenery.
Franklin Square, one of Oswego's oldest parks, is the center piece for the historic Franklin Square District. Also the location for Imagination Station, a major wood structure playground, Franklin Square is a popular destination for children.
Washington Square on Oswego's East Bank (East Side) is the location of the annual Central New York Great Pumpkin Festival. Located at the edge of the Washington Square historic district it is easily accessible via Bridge Street.
Both Breitbeck Park and the Fort Ontario grounds provide spectacular vistas of Lake Ontario and make for perfect vantage points to view one of Oswego's world famous sunsets.
