The Heritage Foundation offers walking tours displaying different areas of interest throughout Oswego County. Each tour brings takes you through the architectural and historical places that Oswego is famous for. Styles of architecture such as Greek Revival, Federal Style, Italianate, and Queen Anne Style just to name a few.
Franklin Square Area:
Located on Oswego's West Bank (West Side), Franklin Square became the focal point in the 19th century for fine residences for the city's merchants, ship builders and ship captains, bankers, millers, and lumbermen.
Washington Square Area:
Located on Oswego's East Bank, Washington Square became the nucleus for the eastern settlement in the 19th century. Many merchants, millers, lumbermen, and professional people built handsome homes to reflect their social status and the industrial development in the new city.
